We join the international labor community in condemning President Trump’s unconstitutional actions in Venezuela.
ituc-csi.org/ituc-tuca-venezuela

A tweet from the International Trade Union Confederation that says:

Venezuela 🇻🇪: @ituc and @CSA_TUCA strongly condemn the US military aggression against Venezuela and the violation of its sovereignty.

We call for respect for the Venezuelan people’s right to self-determination, the immediate release of all those detained, and a return to peaceful and democratic dialogue.

Peace and international law must prevail.

For months, we’ve made clear that we won’t accept higher health care costs, lost jobs or bare-bones coverage dressed up as a solution to politicians’ self-imposed crisis.

When workers stand together, we can build a successful and bipartisan coalition to protect working families.

The horrifying acts of this admin’s militarized immigration enforcement in Minneapolis, Portland, Chicago and cities nationwide are not about safety. They’re about power, and they’re putting innocent working people in danger.

These harmful, violent federal actions must end.

We demand that ICE stop these dangerous operations and leave our communities and workplaces before even more innocent people are hurt or killed. aflcio.org/press/releases/afl-cio-ice-actions-are-putting-working-people-danger

BREAKING: The House voted to extend the ACA tax credits. This vote is a promising step to save 130,000 health care jobs and stop a massive spike in health care costs.

We commend the Republicans and Democrats who stood with working people. aflcio.org/press/releases/afl-cio-house-vote-extend-aca-credits-shows-power-working-people

AFL-CIO President Liz Shuler issued the following statement:

Today’s vote to extend the ACA tax credits happened because working people refused to accept another price hike engineered by President Trump and his congressional allies. Extending the ACA tax credits will save 130,000 health care jobs and stop a massive price hike in health care costs at a time when working people are already being squeezed by rising costs.

For months, working people have made clear that we won’t accept higher health care costs, lost jobs or bare-bones coverage dressed up as a solution to politicians’ self-imposed crisis.

This vote, closely following the bipartisan passage of the Protect America’s Workforce Act in the House, proves that when workers stand together we can build a successful and bipartisan coalition to protect working families. We commend the Republican and Democratic leaders who stood with workers and voted to stop this health care price hike.

Costs are rising on everything — people can’t afford for their ACA health insurance bills to explode, too.

But Congress can fix this. It’s time for lawmakers to put working people first and end this health care crisis.

FEMA workers are there to help our friends, family and neighbors get back on their feet in their greatest moments of need.

Homeland Security’s plans to cut FEMA’s workforce in half doesn’t help anyone — it puts people across the country at risk.

More than 8.3 million workers got a raise this year after 19 states increased their minimum wage.

But the federal minimum wage is STILL $7.25 per hour. It's mind-boggling to expect workers to pay the bills with that wage — it's unlivable in all 50 states. epi.org/blog/over-8-3-million-workers-will-benefit-from-minimum-wage-increases-on-january-1-nineteen-states-will-raise-their-minimum-wages-heres-where/
