Today would have been my mother's 98th birthday. And while I miss her terribly, I'm glad she is not alive to see the tragedy that is our world now. It would have broken her heart.
Happy birthday to my beautiful, loving, fierce mom. ❤️

This morning I watched as two older men - flannel jackets, gimme ball caps, white ponytails - helped a third gentleman (and his walker) out of the back seat of a 1955 Fordmatic Fairlane. They were headed to Mcdonald's for their morning coffee, but you could tell these three were pure mischief. That's the energy I want when I get to be their age.

The lovely thing about all the protests is that they are not limited to a single party, age group, skin color, religion, etc. These are just Americans, raising their voices in peaceful protest, which is their constitutional right.
More powerful than a hundred tanks.
More patriotic than a dozen parades.
Brighter than a thousand fireworks.

Midnight in NW ABQ. Usually the night is a symphony of street racing and coyotes. Tonight it was punctuated by shots from a semiautomatic weapon... It was an oddly appropriate accompaniment to the live-streamed papal inauguration in Rome. Pope Leo will be ministering to a troubled world.
