I just bragged about my cooking skills in someone's comments, so I have to reveal this so karma doesn't bitch-slap me: in making candied orange peel the other night, I completely forgot I turned heat on under the sugar water until the smoke detectors went off. My house still smells a bit like burnt sugar and I wrecked my 3-qt saucepan.

My brothers are ten and twelve years younger than I am, so on weekends my mom had them I sometimes took them out to the zoo, or the movies, or whatever. One weekend I asked them if they wanted to see The Principal with Jim Belushi, or the Princess Bride with Billy Crystal. They chose Belushi, but we got to the theater too late. 🧵

So I said, "Well, the Princess Bride starts in ten minutes. Why don't we see that tonight and The Principal next week?" Roughly two hours later, my brothers declared the Princess Bride "The. Best. Movie. Ever." We did see The Principal the next weekend...and stayed for a 2nd round with the Princess. 🧵

When I got married, both my brothers whispered "mawidge" during the ceremony, resulting in our officiant saying he'd seen brides cry before, but he'd never seen an entire wedding psrty have the giggles all through the ceremony. Princess Bride was one of the touchstones of our marriage. Our first Xmas together, we each bought the VHS for each other. 🧵

I can hear the coyotes! They have a little pack in the forest preserve behind my house and across the creek. I hope their den is cozy enough – it is negative degrees out there.

I survived, and now have temporary battery-operated bionic butt bones. This trial goes for a week, and if it helps, I can say goodbye to 9 years of chronic pain! Thank you all for your good vibes!!

I am having a spinal stimulator installed in my spine in nine hours. This COULD greatly reduce the pain I've been in for nine years now. I don't do religion, but if you could send good vibes and healing thoughts my way, I'd be grateful.

I missed three ASL4 classes due to hospitalizations. Made up a test I missed and took another one almost cold. My receptive skills are for shit. So I'm taking advantage of two school-offered tutoring sessions a week, and hired a paid tutor once a week. Plus, I'm registered for two webinar classes with aslpinnacle. I WILL learn this language!!

This is my third night in the hospital (long story, but I'm getting better) and dietary just rang me up because I hadn't ordered dinner yet, and they wanted to make sure my order got in before the kitchen closed. That was nice of them!

I was able to get a flu vaccine and a pneumonia vaccine today, but I was refused an RSV, an MMR and a Covid vax. The first was refused because I do not work with small children. The MMR was refused because I was born after 1957 and the Covid vax was not even in the building. Thanks a butt load RFKjr. The pharmacist said that the rules are changing by the day and they cannot risk their jobs.
